Frequently Asked Questions

How many rolls of film will you shoot?

Typically I will shoot 2-3 rolls per hour but if you want to increase this number or dedicate some extra rolls to a part of the day we can add more rolls on.

How many photos are on a roll of film?

35mm: 36 photos, for medium format: 6x7: 10 photos, and 6x4.5: 16 photos

Would you shoot only film for our wedding day?

Yes! I love to only shoot film and would do it for every wedding if I could. You can also opt to book a second photographer to shoot digital while I focus on film. This is usually Jared, my other half! If he’s not already capturing Super 8 for you.

Do you shoot 35mm and Medium Format for weddings?

Yes! I use 35mm film and Medium Format/120 film. I have a 6x7 format camera and 6x4.5 and use both on a wedding day.

Is film included in your packages?

Yes! All of my packages are film focussed and include a mix of film and digital.

Would you cover multiple days/a weekend?

I would love to capture your whole journey, you can choose to add days/hours from my extras page or we can customise a package for your day/s.

What’s the deal with your “Bucket List” locations?

Book me at any of these locations and get extra shoot time: Japan, Norway, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Earnslaw Burn/Doubtful & Milford Sound (NZ), India, Morocco, Tanzania, Dolomites.

Is there any benefit to do pre or post wedding pictures?

When possible, I would suggest considering a session the day before or after your wedding. This way, we can capture couple photos without cutting into your time with friends and family on the big day. It also gives us the flexibility to head to a beautiful location and take advantage of the best lighting at sunset, or even sunrise. If we do it beforehand, it will help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera and can be a fun experience with loved ones, like during a rehearsal dinner on a catamaran.

If you’re wanting some more creative images, creativity takes time. While I’ll make the most of the time we have on your wedding day, having more time allows us to slow down and truly enjoy the process. If you're feeling rushed or stressed, squeezing photos into a tight window isn't ideal.

How far in advance should we book you?

It's recommended to book as soon as possible, especially if your wedding is during peak season (late spring/summer/Autumn). Most couples book 6-18 months in advance.

What is your photography style?

I specialise in documentary style, mixed with some curated editorial/creative moments, guiding you when you need it but mainly letting the day unfold naturally and organically. My approach is to capture natural moments while also ensuring we get the important portraits and family photos.

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes! Engagement sessions are a great way for us to get to know each other and for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera before the big day.

Where are you located and do you shoot internationally?

I'm not tied to one place and am always happy to travel. I'm often moving around so I might already be in your neck of the woods when you want me. However my main bases for the next season will be Auckland and London.

How many hours of coverage do we need?

It depends on your wedding schedule. Sometimes you won’t know until closer to the time, often we choose what you think will be the minimum and then we can reconfirm once you have a timeline for the day. We can also customise coverage based on your needs.

Can we request specific shots?

I love to hear about any special moments or details you want to ensure are captured and will ask if you have preferences for film or digital for moments that normally can’t be repeated ie your first kiss. I will also provide a guide list for your family photos so we make sure to get all of those important pictures in orderly fashion!

Do you work with a second photographer?

Yes, I offer the option to include a second photographer in some of my packages. A second photographer helps capture different angles and moments, especially during larger weddings or when events happen simultaneously. Usually I will work with my partner Jared, if he isn’t shooting 16mm for your day already.

What happens if you get sick or have an emergency?

In the rare event of an emergency, I have a network of trusted professional photographers who can step in and provide the same level of service and quality. This includes Jared who’s worked with me many times already and understands my eye.

How long does it take to receive our photos?

My typical turnaround time is 4-8 weeks for the full gallery. I always provide a decent sneak peek within 48 hours of the wedding. Film photos are usually uploaded within 3 weeks of your wedding date.

Do you offer albums, prints or zines?

Yes! I offer a range of beautifully designed albums and prints. You can choose from different styles and sizes, and we’ll work together to create a stunning keepsake of your wedding day. I’m super excited to be offering zines for couples to display their wedding photos in a unique and fun way!

How do we receive our images?

You’ll receive your edited, high-resolution images through an online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints and other products. The gallery will be available for 18 months, you can opt to keep it online annually thereafter on a subscription service.

What is your backup plan for equipment?

You’ll receive your edited, high-resolution images through an online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints and other products. The gallery will be available for 18 months, you can opt to keep it online annually thereafter on a subscription service.

What is your payment schedule?

I require a $1200NZD booking fee to secure your date, and if you're booking 16mm/VHS an additional $500NZD to secure the date with Jared. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the wedding. If there are any travel costs this is usually taken at the time of booking, or if travel is not bookable at that time then at the 11-9 month mark travel costs will be payable.

Do you offer custom packages?

Yes, I can create a custom package based on your specific needs. Just let me know what you're looking for, and we can tailor the coverage accordingly.

Can you travel for destination weddings?

Absolutely! I’m forever inspired by all the places I get to visit and am typically in UK/EU for the summer months for more convenient travel while New Zealand is in Winter. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.

How do we book you?

Please fill out my contact form here and let me know as much detail and info as possible + check with my availability. If the stars align, I like to meet in person or via video call to make sure we will be a good fit. Following our catch up, I’ll send over a contract and invoice for the date retainer. Your date is locked in once the contract is signed and the date retainer is received.
